the return

Sooooooooo, we were in Vegas this week at a big trade show to find some amazing things to share with you all.

And find them we did!

We'll have denim(finally)! From Kasil Workshop and Farmer Denim.  Both are Made in LA with domestically produced cotton.

Amazing Dresses from Eva Franco and Elroy for the coming holiday,

So hot.

So in honor of that hotness, I leave you all with this:

jewels

Laura Lombardi, a Chicago based designer, makes the most amazing jewelry.
We just put out her collection of geometric vintage and recycled brass pieces, that make me feel feminine and tough in all the right ways.
Make sure you come in a check out these amazing pieces before they are all snatched up!

life

In a meandering sort of way, I landed on this site this morning.  The Glow is "a glimpse into the world of inspiring and fashionable moms."  Isn't that sweet?
Edited by Violet Gaynor (who I'm pretty sure is the Senior Fashion Editor over at InStyle), this is a delightful and intimate set of portraits celebrating motherhood and the personal style within.
I'll admit I got a little weepy.

hot hot hot

that was the song I was going to post, but then I got all caught up in the right hand panel on you tube, you know, the recommendations based on your search?
and then I was all like 14 again, and was lost in a black and gold swirl of post-bauhause Peter Murphy. I've always been such a sucker for the dramatic.
enjoy.

new fall coming in soon! I promise!

it's just the beginning

More and more new stuff is coming in as Fall approaches, and we can't wait to share it with all of you.

Here are a couple of amazing dresses by Amelia, a local designer who works right down the street from us here in Portland.  Check our her adorable web site here.

Cutest sundress ever
This would be so great for a late summer wedding, pair it with some cute red heels!

This shift dress is perfectly simple, made with gorgeous ikat fabric in shades of turquoise.
looks great with or without the belt

Now more from one of our favorite labels, Lanston
They are a father-daughter team (how adorable is that?).  Dad does all the manufacturing for his daughter's lines, Lanston and Krisa (all made in L.A.)
Lanston specializes in super soft fabrics, and silhouettes that seem basic on the hanger, but when you put them on drape like magic and are amazingly comfortable!
You can dress these pieces up with great accessories for a night out, or put on over jeans for a grown-up casual look.

This top is a stark white, and makes you feel like a Grecian goddess.

ultra thin French terry, boat neck in deep classic navy

and one more from L.A. label Line+Dot, who always bring us that touch of pretty and feminine, even in a basic grey tee.  The front is overlaid with chiffon with a couple of strategically placed gathers, slightly longer hem in front and back, almost like a baseball jersey.  Too cute!

Hugs all!

being a girl

So, we were once little girls, and we all know how society at large can put strange ideas in our heads about what should be important, and how we should value ourselves.

Even the best of us can have a hard time navigating these waters, and as the mother of a little girl, thoughts about how she will fare in this world weigh heavy sometimes.
I want her to value herself, her whole self, not just her admittedly lovely physical self, but her whole self.

I spotted this post over at a cup of jo, one of my favorite blogs, and it brought a little joy to my heart.
The inspiration for the post is this article by Lisa Bloom, 'How to Talk to Little Girls', all about how to be a positive example of what is important, to ask about books and what they like to do and start conversations about their minds instead of commenting on how they look, no matter how much you want to because they are adorable.
Take a read if there is an important little girl in your life, it totally inspired me!

jam of the day

this video for the Naked and Famous' Young Blood kind of runs like a converse ad, but it just reminds me of being young in the summer
