um, yes please

Yum!

I know that not all of you are lovers of the drizzly grey that is all things Fall in Portland, but Smitten Kitchen (my favorite place for recipes) posted this recently and I think that it might help.

I need to have this for dinner.  Soon.

roasted tomato soup with broiled cheddar

I lover this.

I admit it, I'm a cold weather girl.
I love layers, wooly socks, hot cocoa and grey skies.

This post over at wit+delight made my toes feel all warm and cozy

the cold north wind is moving in…

this is so rad

I can't stand it!  Gold leaf jewelry!

I'm TOTALLY going to do this.

Erica over at Honestly...WTF was inspired by a shoot styled by Mandy of Oracle Fox where gold leaf was applied in the form of makeup and jewelry and she just HAD to try it her self.

Check it:
The full how to is here.

Layers at the ready

Thank goodness!
You really can't layer properly when it's warm out, and we Portlanders really are all about layering.
So it's a good thing the weather finally chilled out, because we know you'll love the amazing layers we're getting in at the store.

Check it out!

More wooly goodness from American Vintage!
Cozy mohair and merino wool blend, perfect over a long sleeve with some tights and boots!

Slinky inky goodness, this soft as silk midnight blue cardigan with big silver buttons
from Lanston won't weigh you down.

Fab classic shirt dress from local favorites Bridge&Burn!

Sweet wool pencil skirt from B&B too.  Hits just below the knee, and has pockets!
Look at that back slit detail.

This Wool blend cloak from Line&Dot is too perfect.
Front pockets, and the sash weaves through to accentuate your waist and keep you warm!

And now for your musical interlude:Squeeze - Black Coffee in Bed.
I've always loved this song, but I don't remember the video being quite so... hilarious.
Enjoy!

We were also so lucky to have the lovely Karen model for us!

Here she is in We3's Treble tunic, classic and sexy.

Super yummy silk Strangers top from Allison Wonderland paired with
the Paulette skirt from Betina Lou (that skirt was MADE for Karen, seriously)

So cute!  the Madelene houndstooth dress from Betina Lou has removable straps
and the softest silk lining ever.

See you in the store!

Falling for you

Oh grey skies...
This is my favorite time of the year, drizzle and all.

After all, this is when all of the warm and fuzzy layers come out and cover Portland.  And that doesn't mean you have to be a lumpy bundle!  We aim to keep you cozy and stylish.
Here's a start:

American Vintage:
This (ironically named) French label has the most amazing not so basic basics.  We even got D. to model for us!

The navy V-neck.
Just long enough to give you a little bit of a tunic feel without a ton of extra bulk around your hips.
And just a touch of cashmere makes it oh so soft.
love!

And now I have to interject the music portion of this broadcast.
I know the Smiths weren't for everyone, but for us...
So I might have screamed a little inappropriately when I saw Radiohead covering this;

Several fantasies came true at once.

Back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Yummy chestnut brown V-neck sweater.
Nice and thin for layering, slim fit without being tight.

Long jersey dress, sexy and simple
Makes me think of Martha Graham,
(wish this was a video of Martha dancing, but this google doodle is so great)

We love Lanston.  We really do.
They just make the best, most drapeyliscious pieces(I know, I know, but it's fun to make up words).

Check out the lovely Holly:
Light cocoa V-neck, perfect for layering with Groceries' Cami, available at abrahams&duffy!

Super luscious light grey Cowl

Split side seam, dolman sleeves.

Local favorites Bridge&Burn continue to work their magic.

The Whatley is such a great basic/not so basic.
The light red is a great spot of color among all the Fall neutrals,
and has all of the little details we love about Bridge&Burn

The little tab at the top of the button placket!
The slight curve at the side seams!
The pleats on the back!
Just at skinny jeans and boots!
We love photo shoots (see behind the scenes photo below), and if you come into the store, there is always the chance D or M will beg you to let us photo you for the blog.  You could be famous!

More to come!  The season is far far from done, and we can't wait to show you what's in store (pun intended!)
